With Dark Phoenix in theaters, we rank the best X-Men movies from Fox.
This is a very enjoyable family film that doesn’t need subtle, subversive adult humor to make the adults have just as much fun as the kids. The pace is perfect, the message is strong and the fun never stops. This is a surefire winner, another home run for Laika.
I really like Blomkamp’s style of filmmaking. It’s visceral, engaging and meaningful, especially considering his genge preoccupations. I hope his next film has a bit more focus, so it can shine as brightly as his debut.
It’s an admirable endeavor, but lacks a strong enough voice to resonate anywhere near the level that must have been its goal.
