Film of the Day (09/11/18): Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Written By Dale Launer and Stanley Shapiro and Paul Henning
Directed By Frank Oz

Steve Martin and Michael Caine have a wonderful chemistry, and despite their comedy coming from opposite ends of the spectrum, the timing is great on both of their parts. It’s loads of fun to watch a gentlemen’s bet from two people who could not be lesser examples of gentlemen. The direction is solid, and it is a breeze to watch, with humor and charm in equal measure. There are a good amount of twists and turns in the third act, and even though I became suspicious of one of the main characters right away, it wasn’t any less fun when those suspicions were confirmed. Cross another one off the list of things I’ve been meaning to watch for a long time!
