Don’t Waste Your Time
If only the script were better, this could have been a drastically better film. The true story is fascinating, it’s very well-cast and there is nothing outwardly wrong with the direction. I could nitpick certain editing choices which, if executed better, could have enhanced the overall product, but in the end the problem lies with a flat script that results in a bland film. This story is anything but bland, so that makes it even more unfortunate. The movie doesn’t give itself enough time or space to do itself justice. The cast does a good job, and I really liked the bookends of the film, but most of the middle portion just lost me. There are things to admire here, but the wasted potential is frustrating.
