Blazing Saddles
Written By Mel Brooks and Norman Steinberg and Andrew Bergman and Richard Pryor and Alan Uger
Directed By Mel Brooks

Growing up, two of my favorite comedies  (well, movies in general) we’re Spaceballs and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. As such, it’s hard even for me to believe that it took me 35 years to see this, after hearing so much about it for so long. It’s every bit as funny as I was ever told, lampooning not only the Western genre, but Hollywood, racism, and just about anything else the writers could think of. The zany, over the top nature of the slapstick is pitch perfect for its time period and keeps you smiling, outdated though it may be at this point. Endlessly quotable, this is a damned hilarious movie, and one of the best that Mel Brooks ever made.
