Fifteen years after the success of its predecessor, I didn’t think there was any way Broken Lizard could turn in a sequel that measured up. But honestly, I think I was wrong. I don’t think this was better than the original, but it damn sure holds its own. No need for a reinvention of the wheel here, as it closely follows the formula of the first movie (after an opening scene that, I admit, had me doubting my choice of film for the night), but adds in plenty of new highway hijinks, tons of new one liners and ball-busting shenanigans and great callbacks to the original for good measure. There are some awesome celebrity cameos, the additions are cast very well (particularly the squad of Mounties giving our misguided “heroes” a hard time) and Farva finally gets his liter of cola…plus nine more just to make sure. Everyone on screen has something to do and they all do it very well. This is a damn funny movie that you should definitely pick up for a home watch since its theatrical run is lilely all but over with now that Deadpool is arriving. But if it’s still playing near you this weekend and you need some counter programming, look no further!

  1. The opening scene in the first film is one of my favorite, most memorable openings to a movie, and as far as comedies go, it has to be my favorite. Slightly disappointed in hearing your thoughts on this opening, but glad it’s not a cash grab POS like lots of comedy sequels are.

    1. Looking around at reviews (which I didn’t do beforehand), it seems like most people really hate it, but I was laughing quite a bit. The first scene gave me some serious doubts but the movie quickly restored my faith.
