Film of the Day (04/21/18): Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok
Written By Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle and Eric Pearson
Directed by Taika Waititi

The Hulk suplexed a wolf the size of a blue whale! I feel like, if you know me at all, you know that’s all I needed to see to say this is EASILY the best Thor film in the trilogy.

The complete 180 from the previous installment is so refreshing. This is a rip-roaring, Hulk-smashing good time. A superhero movie never made me laugh this much, while still bringing the pain and ass kickery when needed. This is the kind of film a franchise like this should strive to be. It’s flat-out awesome, start to finish, full stop.

And what’s more? Finally, the stakes don’t involve saving all of existence! It may be a minor quip, but I’m getting tired of that trope, so seeing this story revolve around saving the people of Asgard and not the people of everywhere helped this feel even more unique.

I have GOT to stop missing these in the theater…
